A small project. A long view.
Meet the Japanese Pine Project: a bonsai hobbyist documenting the journey of growing Japanese pines from seed in Ontario.
Growing Japanese Pines in Ontario
This is a personal project by a bonsai hobbyist in the Greater Toronto Area, growing Japanese black, red and white pine from seed.
The aim is to document the journey: the first signs of growth, seasonal changes, questions, mistakes and lessons along the way.
Real records, over time
The project is at an early stage. Original photographs and dated observations will form the heart of the website as the collection develops.
If surplus seedlings become available in the future, this site will share their growing history alongside the availability details.
